Just inherited my wife's old laptop. ( Advanced Notebook Solutions Model DL75 )
It had been able to connect to our Comcast Broadband system both through a cable and wirelessly from our router before the install.
I used my Windows XP Home, CD to do a fresh install ( including a Format ) The operating system installed ok, but when I try to use the wizard to setup a new connection, it will not connect to the net.
    Any suggestions?

Hello Larry and welcome to Computer Help Forums.

Did you install drivers for your wireless card and your (Ethernet) LAN?

Have you checked the Device Manager for yellow bangs?

If its none of Cindy's suggestions, are you certain wireless is even enabled?
If you installed various motherboard drivers did you first install the chipset driver?
