Recently I have been experiencing a blank page while playing the game Kingdoms Of Camelot (a strategy game). The screen will go black for a moment and then flash back on. I get the error "display driver has stopped working but has since recovered, Intel Graphics Accelerator Driver for Windows Vista.
It is not that big of a problem for me but if I can fix it I would like to. I tried updating the driver but was told I was already using the latest driver.
    My os info is below:

Thanks for any help. I did not put my USB and Display Driver problems together thinking they would require different actions. Thanks, Dave

    Hi Dave,

If the driver has worked successfully with this game in the past, there may be a corruption issue that can be resolved in a similar way to that I outlined for your USB problem but this time you would need to check in the 'Display Adaptor' section of the 'Device Manager'. However it may be a system resource issue where the game uses too much when Windows background services are running but can get by when they are not. This is a more likely scenario as a corrupt driver would not repair itself.

I would uninstall the video driver restart and then download and install the newest from the website again as the driver may have become corrupted. Even if its the same version download it again and install it.

Ok Rich, I will do a google search and see if I can find that driver and download it. The display failed twice today so I do need to fix it. Thanks.

Hey Rich, I went to the Intel Site and downloaded the latest driver for Vista but when I went to install the installation stopped and I got the error "the system does not meet the basic requirements for this installation". I tried again, this time I made sure the search was for Win 7 Starter, but again the install stopped. Do you know if there is a specific download for my 32 bit Starter os that I should be using? Thanks.

One other thing Rich, I do still have the original Starter Disk that came with the pc and the Acer disks also. So if you tell me to restart or reboot or something, I have the disks to do that with but you'll have to explain in detail just how. Thanks.

Can I ask first why you have Windows Starter on this laptop? Judging by the processor this is not a Netbook and Windows 7 Starter is a very limted platform especially in terms of video options. Please recheck your model number and list it exactly as the Acer website does not show an Aspire 4736Z model under any category.

I have Windows Starter on my laptop because that is what came with it when I bought it. Yes, I am sure that my laptop is an Acer Aspire 4736Z, I am looking at the label right now.
Reading between the lines I would say that you hesitate to help me for whatever reason and that since Starter is a limited os I really should upgrade to Win 7. So, that is what I shall do. Thanks you for the info.

No don't read between the lines, I was just curious and am here to help. I went to Acer site and I cannot find that model listed anywhere is all, I was trying to find you a video driver. Your idea though to go up to Windows 7 makes perfect sense especially since this issue could well have to do with the limited version of Windows. Windows Starter is incomplete in a few areas and most of them do involve video otherwise the rest of it is really a shortened version of Windows 7.
I think there is an inexpensive upgrade version to take that to Windows 7 as an upgrade as well so it may not even cost much but am concerned that we will still have issues getting drivers since the model seems to either have more than one model #, and I have seen that before with Acer and the other brand is Msi where there seems to be more than one model number which makes finding drivers very difficult. Let me try again now that I know for sure it is a laptop. Netbooks often came with Windows Starter but laptops really should have come with full versions so this is the first I have seen of this.

OK there are drivers for Windows 7 and BTW you might try the video driver on this site to see if it fixes your driver issue you have now:
    http://www.downloadlaptopdrivers.net/2013/11/acer-aspire-4736z-drivers-for-windows-7.html
This is not an Acer site but I downloaded a few drivers and they seem ok.
Maybe you bought that used and someone else installed Windows Starter 7 on it and I was assuming it was sold that way. I see it was first manufactured in 2009.
BTW here is the upgrade from Starter to Home Premium 7 and its $35:

Its ok Rich, I will just get win 7 ultimate next week at the pc shop. I did go to that driver site but when I tried to run it I got the error that my os is not up to snuff so I think the best is just to up grade and be done with it. Thanks for your help and have a nice day.

Yeah probably a botched install, of Windows Starter but it wasn't really meant for a full laptop anyway, as that OS had a lot of short cuts
where I can see you might have had various issues on a full pc.
