Hi, and sorry for starting out with a question.
My OS is Windows XP SP3, using Firefox as a browser, with Tiscali Broadband as ISP and Outlook Express as mail client.
This morning I downloaded an 'important update' for ZoneAlarm Firewall. Upon restart after install, my computer wouldn't boot-up properly.
I managed to turn off the computer with Alt Ctrl Delete and the computer booted up - very slowly. After boot-up I lost internet connection - Outlook Express and Firefox did not work at all. So I then uninstalled all ZoneAlarm components that I could (it says that TrueVector Internet Monitor is still active, but I can't find it anywhere) and disabled it's components from Start-up.
I then did System Restore (and disabled ZA again!) and got my old settings back.
Outlook Express works fine now, but I have a very strange problem with Firefox. Firefox will load, go to my Home Page, and from there I can use the web (visit a few sites) for about 30 - 90 seconds, before it stops working again (will not load pages at all, just white screen).
Outlook Express is ok, and Firefox on my other computer on Home Network also works fine, so it's a local problem, not an ISP problem.
This is the same after every Restart - works for 30-90 seconds only.
Can any body advise me as to what might be a possible cause of this? Surely it is something to do with settings and my removing ZoneAlarm?
One more thing - when installing ZA update this morning, an option I had not seen before appeared - configure system with ZA (or something like that) or not. I clicked 'yes'. This may have done something to my internet settings. ???
Thanks in advance. And again, sorry about starting with a question!

Also like to point out that Firefox will lose some settings after system restore is used. I'm not sure if this is specific to Windows 7 or if it happens with XP and Vista.
I had to use system restore twice and both times all my addons lost the settings.
