We need your help to announce the launch of VIPRE 4.0!

Tuesday March 2, 2010, Sunbelt Software is offering a free 1 year, 1 PC license of VIPRE Antivirus Premium to all #SunbeltSoftware Twitter followers who announce the launch of VIPRE 4.0. This is a one day only event, and it is open to all Twitter users.

To learn more about this incredible offer, please visit www.SunbeltSoftware.com/Twitter

OK - just so you know, I'm not employed in any way, shape, or form by Sunbelt.
If anything the 'ole shoe is on the other foot - I pay them to use their products. :P Currently, I'm using plain Vipre. They have been talking (on their newsletters) about the new combination package, which includes a new firewall.

When this showed up in today's newsletter - I quickly joined Twitter and am waiting for the morrow to follow-thru on their offer.

If you're as weak as me for free offers, the above should be well met.

I like Free Software as well, however when it comes to Internet Security,
I am very selective.

I will stay with my tried and proven Antivirus Program, till such time
exhaustive Tests have been carried out on Vipre 4.0 in the wild.

Anyways, let us know what your impressions are. :)

Well, got my download URL and year's registration today. Installed nicely over Vipre 3.x and activated without event - recognizing all previous actions (quarantines and such). Nice, clean interface.

Checked out performance at Steve Gibson's site.

Your system has achieved a perfect "TruStealth" rating. Not a single packet — solicited or otherwise — was received from your system as a result of our security probing tests. Your system ignored and refused to reply to repeated Pings (ICMP Echo Requests). From the standpoint of the passing probes of any hacker, this machine does not exist on the Internet. Some questionable personal security systems expose their users by attempting to "counter-probe the prober", thus revealing themselves. But your system wisely remained silent in every way. Very nice.

Posted ImageYour Internet port 139 does not appear to exist!
One or more ports on this system are operating in FULL STEALTH MODE! Standard Internet behavior requires port connection attempts to be answered with a success or refusal response. Therefore, only an attempt to connect to a nonexistent computer results in no response of either kind. But YOUR computer has DELIBERATELY CHOSEN NOT TO RESPOND (that's very cool!) which represents advanced computer and port stealthing capabilities. A machine configured in this fashion is well hardened to Internet NetBIOS attack and intrusion.

Posted ImageUnable to connect with NetBIOS to your computer.
All attempts to get any information from your computer have FAILED. (This is very uncommon for a Windows networking-based PC.) Relative to vulnerabilities from Windows networking, this computer appears to be VERY SECURE since it is NOT exposing ANY of its internal NetBIOS networking protocol over the Internet.

Of course the WILD is still out there, but this is better performance than I gotten from some well-known packages - and I've tried perhaps three quarters of them.

Thanks for the Feedback,KlickKatt. :)
I have been reading up on Vipre 4.0
All reports,so far I have read, are Positive.
I look forward to an unbiased test, from AV Comparatives.org
I did the Gibson Test, and the Windows Firewall failed.
I will have to fix that gap, in my Security. :o
