But there is a film on a site which I 'd like to download to the disk .I can
watch it from the site
but don't know what to do to download it ? Thank you for help;

If you can, right-click on the WMV link and select "Save." WMV is a
Windows Media "player" file type and will normally "auto play" when
click on the link. However, you need to know that the web site
"designer" can "disable" the right-click "options" when you are on
their "designed" web pages.

At least two choices for this specific URL you provided.
1. use a software to capture your Windows Media Player output.
My favorite is Screen Recorder Pro.
2. Use a hardware .... your video camera.

I use http://www.file2hd.com , but I am not sure if it will work in your
case and I can't try it since I am at work.
I don't think it'll work, but worth a shot.
Screen recording software is a good way to go, but unfortunately I don't
know any for free.. most of them have limits.
