Audio Problem

OS is MS's XP-MCE w/SP-2 Machine is AMD's dual-core w/2 GIG
When a DVD is played or a video from an on-line source, the audio, ALL
the time, is pitched higher than normal. Again, DVDs *and* on-line
sources. Sounds like those chip-munch characters of days gone by.
Video speed *seems* to not be effected - maybe ever so slightly - hard
to measure.
Pls, what is going on here??
Thank You,
Wayne

It is not so annoying that running as you suggest is worth it. I do
not watch DVDs on a PC.
So Thank You for your kind and generous suggestion.
