Default ati 9500 pro

i have a ati 9500 pr0 and i am running xp pro with service pack 2 the driver i had with card works ok until i try to play games .So i decided to upgrade driver and when i did it just freezes computer anyone know why?? help driving me mad

What exactly is happening? When you start the game, what does it do?
