i dont know much about computers, i dont know what i did, but my system
configuration utility starts every time i boot up my computer. please help me
stop this oh ya im running win xp

Are you talking about the message box that comes up saying something like,
"You've used the System Configuration Utility" or the Utility itself
starts?

If the former, there is no need to install a third-party program to stop the
message. Simply tick the box in the lower left-hand corner of the message
that says in effect, "don't bother me about this again".

If the latter, please post back.

OK, the "cleanup msconfig" utility the other poster had you download won't
help and has nothing to do with your issue. This is a new one - I've never
seen the utility itself start up with Windows, but live and learn. ;-)

Here are some things to try:

1. Do a System Restore to a time before you did whatever it was you did.
Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore
"Restore my computer to an earlier time". Pick one of the dates in bold that
is before the problem but not too far back in time.

2. If that doesn't work, since the Utility is coming up anyway look on its
Startup tab to see what is set to run.

ok i tryed to the best of my ability all that you suggested. i think that yes
i have a virus. and i think i got it frome facebook. its funny because now im
geeting popups that take me to another site just like face book lol. i have
norton 360 loaded on my computer. it finds stuff every time i run it. so i
went to nortons suport and for 99.00 the will remove it for me. but do i want
to pay 99.00 every time this happens to me no i dont think so. but what they
said to me was the problem was inbeded in my internet exsplorer. can i remove
internet exsplorer and redownload it ? im lost please help. oh ya pretened im
stupid lol

ok i tryed ( to the best of my ability ) all that you sggested. i have no
restore points ? the free autoruns program has too much information for me to
figure out what should and what should not be there. i think i may have a
virus. i think iot came from facebook. there was a message on there how face
book was over crouded with non active users so coppy and paste this message
to 15 of your friends........... and now im geting popups that send me to
perfspot or at least i think thats what it was called. i have norton 360. i
whent to there suport and they want $99.00 to fix it. they said the problem
was inbeded in internet exsplorer. is there a way for me to fined and remove
it. i feel so lost. thanks for your help.
